Our Mission
Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen
Our mission at Woodfield Park is to go and make disciples. We will do this by actively engaging our neighbors with the gospel and showing them the love of Christ in actions. When someone comes to faith in Christ we will immediately seek to baptize them as Christ instructs and begin making them disciples by teaching them the holy word of God and equipping them for service in the body. We will also support missions in our state, nation and across the world through missions organizations and through participation in mission trips and other mission opportunities.
Our Motive
Matthew 22:37-39, "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, and with all of your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it; 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Our mission is founded in a love for God and our neighbors. Our neighbors, literally, the other person, are anyone we come in to contact with. Jesus tells us we are to even "love" our enemies, just as He loved us when we were enemies of God. We will do this by meeting needs, both physical and spiritual; practicing the "Golden Rule," to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and by sharing the love of Christ through His gospel and our good works.
Our Method
Matthew 5:13-16, "You are the salt f the earth; but if salt loses it's flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
When we love God with all that we are and love people as Jesus loved us, we will be "salt" and "light" in the world. We are salt as we are changed, a "born again," "new creation," separated from the ways of the world unto holiness, as He is holy. We are light as we carry the life saving gospel of Jesus Christ with us. We commit to being in the world but not of the world so as to be a witness in both word and deed to those who need Jesus.
